The eircom Spiders 2010 are calling for entries for Financial Services websites and that deliver financial related products, services, advice or information. Evaluation will be based on content, user-focused design, time-saving transactional facilities, interactive features, functionality and security as well as innovation in this field.
Potential winners of the Best Financial Services eircom Spider award are expected to provide prospective and current customers with truly impressive levels of customer support, and this will be tested by the judging panel should a nominee make the shortlist.
Nominees will also be judged on the following criteria:
DESIGN – A well designed, user-focused website that helps convey your message to site visitors. We will reward a Financial Services website with an attractive lay out which maintains ease of use. Security and cutting edge technology which has a clear beneficial function will also be rewarded.

Nominations may come from travel guides, accommodation owners, restaurant guides, tourist information, and suppliers to the tourism industry, online travel sites or other related individuals. Your site should provide visitors with valuable content, time-saving interactive online booking facilities and a wide range of travel, dining and other tourist related options to the undecided visitor. A demonstration of how nominees have leveraged internet channels and technology to show a return on investment will also be rewarded. Nominees will also be judged on the following criteria:

Online shopping facility is not crucial to this category as the judges are looking for sites that demonstrate innovative retail solutions (pricing, delivery, returns) that expand the business beyond the shop floor, to providing excellence in customer service through online channels.

Judging will be based on auditable performance metrics and on how the campaign has used innovative online marketing techniques to meet the objectives of the campaign.

The eircom Spiders 2010 are calling for entries from Web Design and Development Agencies who specialise in developments and designing websites for clients. Agencies will be judged on creative work that they have completed over the past 12 months. The judges are looking for innovative use of the online environment to execute their website and will be basing their criteria on creativity, development, delivery to brief and overall client experience. Nominees must include two clients from whom the judging panel may consult with for testimonials. This nomination form should be accompanied by a short 30 second video demonstrating their work is .mov format.
Nominees will also be judged on the following criteria:
DESIGN – A well designed, user-focused website that conveys your clients’ message to site visitors. We will reward a website with a well structured layout which maintains ease-of-use and interaction. Use of cutting edge technology, which has a clear and beneficial function, will also be considered by the judges.
CONTENT – You will be judged as Best Web Design & Development Agency by assessing creative work carried out in the past year for two clients from whom the judging panel may consult with for testimonials.
INNOVATION – Original use of online environment to execute your campaign through internet channels or technology is rewarded here, especially where the nominee is judged to be “first to market”.

Big Mouth (People’s choice)
The eircom Spiders 2010 are searching for the most influential voice online in Ireland. Who commands the biggest tribe, who’s a trusted source in their community? Nominees may be active bloggers, online journalists, on Twitter, or other mediums covering topics such as business, charity, culture or politics. Nominate whomever you consider to be an online Big Mouth today or if you consider yourself one.
The shortlist will be comprised of your top nominated Big Mouth.
Community (People’s choice)
The eircom Spiders 2010 are looking for your favourite online community website which has maintained your interest, enhanced your knowledge, opened up new communication avenues and had the biggest impact on your life.
This category is based on nominations from the online community. Nominations can be made free of charge.
Standards & Judging Methodology
All entries will be assessed against good practice standards in web design and inclusion. Those that fail may be marked down or excluded from the judging.

The Graduate (Free to enter)
The eircom Spiders 2010 are searching for the brightest talent in the online marketplace by awarding the most innovative Digital Media Graduate this year. The nominee must have graduated this year and have an innovative online idea or design which impresses the judges and the industry. The website, which may be a portfolio website, will also be assessed against good practice standards in creativity, web design and innovation.

Digital Editor
This category considers the craft of online editing and content management. Creative execution, writing skills, technological ability, and adherence to the standards of the craft will all be considered. This category aims to recognise an individuals’ excellence in this important segment of the industry – Content is King!
Nominees will also be judged on the following criteria:
CONTENT – Your site content should be well written, concise and easily readable, creating a unique voice and well rounded editorial calendar.
INNOVATION – The creative and innovative delivery of content solutions is rewarded here, especially where the nominee is judged to be “first to market”.
TECHNIQUE – Demonstration of astute copywriting skills, a craft in writing for the web, editing, proofreading and use of other techniques such as to attract more users to the site.
Mobile App
The eircom Spiders 2010 are calling for entries from application developers who have created apps for iPhone, Android and Smartphone. This award recognises a company or individual who has excelled within the mobile app space by developing innovative and smart mobile apps with useful context and is used by the mobile user especially where the nominee is deemed to be “first to market”.
This category is open to all entrants from other categories who have developed apps.
Nominees will also be judged on the following criteria:
DESIGN – A well designed user-focused mobile application that helps convey your message to mobile users. We will reward an entry with an attractive lay out which maintains ease-of-use. Use of cutting edge technology which has a clear and beneficial function, will also be rewarded.
INNOVATION – Original use of mobile content or technology to execute your campaign, service or product through internet channels is rewarded here, especially where the nominee is judged to be “first to market”.
One to watch
The eircom Spiders are looking for the most innovative indigenous website launched in the last twelve months. This could be a business in their first year of operation or an existing website that has been newly designed/ developed and re-launched in 2010. The site should be engaging, with innovative mechanisms that encourage interaction from the user. The judges will be looking for evidence of customer acquisition while examining other performance related metrics of determining the viability and interest to the site.
Nominees will also be judged on the following criteria:
DESIGN – A well designed, user-focused website will help convey your message to site visitors. We will reward a new website with an attractive lay out which maintains ease-of-use. Use of cutting edge technology which has a clear and beneficial function, will also be rewarded.
CONTENT – Your site content should be up-to-date and well written in an appealing and engaging way that is relevant to the visitor. It should be well laid out, easily readable, include the products and services that you provide and helpful links or information.
INNOVATION – Original delivery of onsite solutions using breakthrough technology, or design technique to enhance the user experience especially where the nominee is judged to be “first to market”.
MEDIA COMPATIBILITY – Websites which are shown to embrace the multiple platforms available when viewing content will be rewarded. These platforms may include iphone, mobile phones, blackberry and smaller screens displays.

The Internet Hero will be the publisher’s choice and is awarded to an individual who has had outstanding success in the online industry.
Grand Prix
This award will be selected from the overall winners of the individual eircom Spiders’ categories in 2010. Judges will be looking for outstanding levels of achievement in the areas of technology, innovation, functionality & interactivity coupled with a world class user experience. The Grand Prix, the highest accolade of The eircom Spiders will be announced on the night at the awards ceremony.
